ABOUT US

The Art Section of the Solihull Society of Arts is a friendly group of amateur painters that meets every fortnight at Alderbrook School for a variety of demonstrations, talks or practical sketching evenings with a model and/or still life.

We have at least one exhibition every year, indoor Saturday painting classes during the winter months, and outside painting days in the summer.

Demonstrations are carried out by local professional artists with the intention of helping members to develop and widen their skills and become more adventurous. Talks are on a variety of interesting topics related to famous artists or the profession of being an artist.

Some of us have been painting for many years and are quite accomplished, whilst others of us are fairly new to drawing and painting, but we are mutually supportive and we learn from each others’ efforts.

New members are always welcome to join the society. We welcome visitors to come and experience a meeting or two before joining, and the membership fee is scaled to the time left in the year.
